Hands Down 03:46
i want to skip like a rock in the sun in the sea in the silence surrounding the sound around me catch a wave pull it back to the beaches and meadows the thickening woodland the silence that captivates me that calls to me that sways me here I go skipping again never reaching the end the invitation is ripe to extend the spirit we got is the means and the end so I tend to spend time with my friends just hanging around the gaff shooting the breeze, shooting the breeze and having a laugh skipa dee bibba dee bibba dee having a laugh I walk through the green forest trip on the hills and I pick myself up and I nurture my spills and I keep moving forward and onward and outward and mark the transition that's happening inward to mark it in time I'm moving in time I'm travelling in time I'm keeping time to mark it in time I'm moving in time I'm travelling in time I'm keeping time and I follow my gut and I keep getting up and I keep getting down and I'm looking around and I like to spend time getting down on the ground so I'm looking for reasons to put my hands down on the ground They just got to be found ... down in the down in the down in the down in the ground I got this hands down turning turnin turning upside down I got this hands down I got this hands down

Haunting You 05:22
my heart my heart, I'm sorry, I'm sore my heart I have hurt you too often before my heart is not able to give what you want And my heart is not looking for something to haunt Oh my heart has been haunting you haunting you haunting you My heart has been haunting you all through the night You should shake off the shackles these chains that I've laid you should shake off the shackles and stand unafraid the net it will open if only you dare to trust that your solace could be anywhere my heart has been haunting you haunting you, haunting you my heart has been haunting you all through the night If only I could tell you how sorry I am I wish I could say it was some master plan but I'll get no reward for the deed that I've done My lonely road has already begun

we have reached the point of crossing this bridge cause we have come to it. to turn from the mirror to an open space we have reached the point of crossing this bridge there is no escaping no right or left no about face Let the dust and dirt mix with my ashes to the dust of stars where I'll take my place We have reached the point of crossing this bridge to fathom new waters and find new depths and to integrate we have reached the point of crossing this bridge to follow the current to start the path of a different pace let the dust and dirt join with my ashes to the dust of stars to go in grace let the dust and dirt mix with my ashes to the dust of stars to go in grace

tripping decisions to come never notice the frame I get so caught/hung up on expectations unwind there's a place in my mind that is never exposed to the prospect that I could subvert it it's just the way it's always been it's just how things have always been never to defy the walls in my mind I get stuck in with no one to blame it's just how I'm made dear I'd say I'm afraid dear to show you the effort it takes to keep pulling together the scrapings of courage i'm scraping together, the background the template the norm for forever forever forever it seems like forever forever forever it seems like forever it's just how I'm made If it's true that I'm careless I choose to compare it to craters i'm stuck in at least in my mind the dig out's not happened the last hatch is battoned I'm shored up and waiting for you to discover your find to discover what waiting here after you've gone out and grown up decided to chose to be kind I'll just keep on waiting can't rush it reframing myself as a creature developing sense the fire is still burning it's steady returning the effort required to grow is immense collected inspected the mood is reflected transforming the story I tell to myself the trial by fire is life's own desire to stoke up the furnace and joke and return us to sense, to sense the outline the edge the defense I can offer you only my warmest intents the best of intents

death by a thousand paper cuts! the wood the paper came from was roughly split some time ago its jagged edges snag at my loose skin. there's only a certain distance that i can proceed before it snares me back. i am an animal licking my wounds but eternally returning to the prize in the trap. it is the subtlety of the knives you wield the most subtle of all the most subtle of all the trust i cannot quite shake the thin scores of the knives in my paper skin will almost scab over, almost heal before i decide the pain is not yet enough and i throw myself back to another round flayed, stabbed, slit. the functional actions of your carnivorous knives. a thousand friendships fall. she no longer sings, she tells me she no longer sings, she tells me she no longer sings, she tells me

poem Maya Angelou music (Phenomenally Women) Deirdre Murphy Released in collaboration with Caged Bird Legacy. Pretty women wonder where my secret lies. I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size But when I start to tell them, They think I'm telling lies. I say, It's in the reach of my arms The span of my hips, The stride of my step, The curl of my lips. I'm a woman Phenomenally. Phenomenal woman, That's me. I walk into a room Just as cool as you please, And to a man, The fellows stand or Fall down on their knees. Then they swarm around me, A hive of honey bees. I say, It's the fire in my eyes, And the flash of my teeth, The swing in my waist, And the joy in my feet. I'm a woman Phenomenally. Phenomenal woman, That's me. Men themselves have wondered What they see in me. They try so much But they can't touch My inner mystery. When I try to show them They say they still can't see. I say, It's in the arch of my back, The sun of my smile, The ride of my breasts, The grace of my style. I'm a woman Phenomenally. Phenomenal woman, That's me. Now you understand Just why my head's not bowed. I don't shout or jump about Or have to talk real loud. When you see me passing It ought to make you proud. I say, It's in the click of my heels, The bend of my hair, the palm of my hand, The need of my care, 'Cause I'm a woman Phenomenally. Phenomenal woman, That's me.

about

The album title, Matriotism, comes from the concept of devotion to the motherland; to the earth.

Described as "Tori Amos meets Amanda Palmer meets Joni Mitchell," the album promises to be a captivating journey through diverse internal landscapes, with songs diving into reflections on consciousness, culture, and the many facets of human experience.

Matriotism was produced and engineered by Oli Ryan and features double bass, cello, violin, guitar, mandolin, ukulele, percussion and vocals.

Single Spotlight: "Sweet and Strong"

One of the album's standout tracks, "Sweet and Strong," has already garnered acclaim, receiving the following reviews:

“Deirdre Murphy’s “Sweet and Strong” is a neo-folk gem that captures the magic and exhilaration of falling in love. The song’s heartfelt lyrics and warm, summery vibes create a sense of expansiveness and wonder, akin to the feeling of the golden hour when everything appears vibrant and full of possibility. …But the real standout centerpiece of the song is Deirdre Murphy’s vocals. Her voice is light and carries a warmth similar to that of Moriarty meets Ani DiFranco. Her poetic and wordplay-filled lyrics add to the song’s charm and authenticity, making it easy for listeners to connect with the emotions she conveys.”

The Sheela na Gig on the album cover, an original linocut print by Deirdre Murphy, represents female generative power. It is based on an ancient Irish carving often found above doors and in stone walls.
